Event detail:

The presentation examines how plant biomass in high-Andean bofedales (peatlands), native grasslands, and relict forests influences the efficiency of hydrological, regulatory, productive, and cultural ecosystem services in Peruvian watersheds. It documents key degradation drivers—glacial retreat, deterioration of qochas (traditional water-retention structures), and overgrazing—and their effects on water recharge, livestock carrying capacity, and carbon sequestration.
